Zoetis Introduces New Pricing for Most Powerful Red Angus i50K Genomic Test with Better Accuracy

Zoetis announced a new price for the most accurate genomic test available to Red Angus breeders. Beginning Oct. 1, the HD50K/i50K genomic test for Red Angus cattle will be available at a price of $39 per head. The announcement was made at the National Red Angus Convention held Sept. 13-15 in Colorado Springs.
"Red Angus producers benefit from better test accuracy and more reliability with faster laboratory turn-around and the best in class team for customer support," said Jim Johnson, National Sales Manager for beef genetics with Zoetis. "A more economical price structure makes HD50K/i50K Version 2 test a great tool for all Red Angus breeders."
The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) implemented the HD50K/i50K Version 2 test from Zoetis with its Fall 2017 EPDs. The Version 2 test was developed collaboratively with the RAAA using Zoetis' growing volume of 50K genotypes from Red Angus animals.
"Based on genetic parameters independently computed by Dr. Matt Spangler at the University of Nebraska, this latest Zoetis HD/i50K for Red Angus calibration explains notably more genetic variation across the majority of traits when compared to the competitor's current product," said Kent Andersen, PhD, Director of Genetics Technical Services with Zoetis. "It truly helps Red Angus breeders make the most informed decisions for selection, mating and marketing decisions involving young animals."
