FarmLink Introduces New Program, Adds New Revenue Stream for Farmers

FarmLink introduced a first-of-its-kind combine sharing program called "Farmer to Farmer" that allows growers to improve profitability by generating income from idle machines.
"Much like popular car sharing and vacation housing programs, Farmer to Farmer maximizes the usage of a valuable resource the combine so that the owner and the additional user both benefit," said Dan Alcazar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for FarmLink.
Under the program, FarmLink will partner with farmers in areas that have spring or early summer harvests primarily Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas to pick up their combines once the harvest is finished, then deliver them to other growers for completion of their late summer/fall harvests. Farmers can generate up to $40,000 each year in additional income by participating in the program.
"Combines typically represent one of the most costly, yet least utilized piece of equipment on the farm. The Farmer to Farmer program offers a unique and creative way for growers to generate cash from what would otherwise be an idle asset sitting in the shed. It represents a fantastic way to generate cash flow and improve financial performance." said Jeff Dema, President of Grower Services at FarmLink.
Farmers will see benefits from the Farmer to Farmer program on several fronts, including:

-- Offsetting the cost of a new combine purchase (using the additional income);
-- Guaranteed yearly payments that help farmers plan cash needs;
-- Decreasing ownership costs for the combine; and
-- Hassle-free program participation, with FarmLink handling all transportation and maintenance during the lease term.
Farmers who own 2012 late-model or newer John Deere S670, or CaseIH 7230 or 8230 combines are eligible to participate in the program. FarmLink will pick up the combines, pay combine owners for usage of their machines during the late summer/fall harvest season, service the machines after use, and return them to the owners by an agreed upon date before the combine owners' late spring/early summer harvest. As part of the lease agreement, any necessary maintenance and repair costs are covered by FarmLink while combines are in the company's possession.
The Farmer to Farmer program is one of several machinery-related efforts by FarmLink's MachineryLink brand, which also include combine leasing and transport capabilities to help farmers utilize crucial farm machinery more efficiently.
