Thu, 19 Feb 2009 12:53:13 CST
The National FFA Organization will celebrate National FFA week Feb. 21-28, with the theme - Step Up, Stand Out - challenging FFA members to step up to responsibilities, stand out from the rest of the crowd and reach for success. Nearly half a million FFA members across the nation will participate in National FFA Week activities at the local and state levels. National FFA president Paul Moy called the theme – a call to action. During the week, national FFA officers will travel to different regions in the United States to visit local FFA chapters, participate in special events and visit with their state legislators, and in some cases, their governors. Individual chapters plan a weeklong schedule of events to promote FFA and agriculture in their schools and communities.
The National FFA Organization is a national youth organization of 507,763 student members - all preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture - as part of 7,439 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
