Carli Newby of Lindsay FFA Shows Top Market Hog at Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Show

For the first time in 60 years, the Tulsa State Fair selected all four of their Grand Champions for their Junior Livestock Show under one roof- at the same time. The first ever Night of Champions saw four Oklahoma youth rise to the top as their animals were chosen the Grand Champion in their species. We talked about this concept of a Night of Champions with Mark Andrus, President and CEO of Expo Square and the Tulsa State Fair after he had finished his duties of congratulating the Grand and Reserve Grand winners- click on the LISTEN BAR below to hear our brief conversation.
In the Market Barrow division- the Grand Champion Barrow(pictured here) was shown by Carli Newby of the Lindsay FFA. Carli won with her Hampshire Champion barrow. The Reserve Grand Champion Barrow for the 2010 Tulsa State Fair was the Crossbred Champion- owned by Taylor Fort of Elgin FFA. Over 900 market hogs were evaluated in the 2010 Junior Division Barrow Show.

Yorkshire- Emile Mittelstaedt, Amber-Pocasset 4-H
Berkshire- Jake Kelley, Walters FFA
Poland China- Allison Ragsdale, Tuttle 4-H
Spot- Logan Maher, Woodward County 4-H
Chester White- Matt Doedy, Bristow FFA
Hampshire- Carli Newby, Lindsay FFA
Crossbred- Taylor Fort, Elgin FFA
The Reserve Market Barrows in each breed included:

The Grand Champion Market Barrow will be one of the first animals in the Premium Auction of the top animals that will be sold at 11 AM Friday morning at the Tulsa State Fair.
