Tue, 29 May 2012 06:28:40 CDT
The 2012 harvest season for winter canola in Oklahoma is rapidly winding down. By this friday, June first, we could well have almost all of the state's canola harvested- easily the earliest harvest for this crop that we have seen in the limited number of years it has been grown in the southern plains.
On today's episode of Canola TV, we talk with Crop Consultant Bryan Vincent on the Marland, Oklahoma farm of Bonnie and Bill Juetschke- first year canola farmers. Vincent describes how this couple decided they needed to clean up some very weedy wheat fields- and decided on canola as their best option-
Ron Hays stands in one of their canola fields as it is harvested to talk with Bryan on Memorial Day- May 28, 2012. Canola TV is a service of PCOM- Producers Cooperative Oil Mill. Click here for the PCOM website to learn more about their mission to serve the farm community.
