NCBA Agrees to Pay Back Monies to Cattlemen's Beef Board Based on 2010 Compliance Review

Fri, 14 Jan 2011 8:15:50 CST

The largest beef checkoff contractor has agreed to repay the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) $216,944 to clear up spending discrepancies and accounting errors that occurred during fiscal years 2008 and 2009, and the first five months of fiscal 2010.

We have obtained a CBB summary of reimbursements due from NCBA and the Federation of State Beef Councils, its checkoff arm, along with a Jan. 7 letter from Tom Ramey, CBB chief executive, to Craig Morris, deputy administrator of USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), announcing a final resolution of issues identified in a contract compliance review of NCBA. AMS signed off on the resolution agreement earlier this week.

Click on the PDF file links below for the various documents and the letter from the Beef Board to USDA.
