From the 2011 Cattle Industry Convention- A Visit with Colin Woodall on Policy Priorities
Tue, 01 Feb 2011 19:51:53 CST
Colin Woodall lobbies for cattle producers in our nation's capitol- and Woodall sat down with us to discuss a variety of issues that are of great interest to those producers out across the country.
We talked with Woodall about the GIPSA Rule on Competition in Livestock Markets- and he believes that we are several months away from a final decision by the USDA when it comes to what sort of rule may result. The battle over Cap and Trade was also a topic of our conversation- and Woodall says that it appears that we will see the most aggressive oversight from Congress that has happened in several years. This comes as Woodall sees a concerted attack on modern agriculture from groups that want American farmers to revert to "forty acres and a mule" as our production standard.
We also discussed estate taxes- both the fix that was achieved back in December for two years- as well as how that two year reprieve can be extended
