Wed, 17 Oct 2018 17:56:05 CDT
Checking In on the Beef Checkoff is a new series the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network and the Oklahoma Farm Report is proud to offer in partnership with the Oklahoma Beef Council. Over the next several weeks, we invite you to join us as we highlight some of the efforts being undertaken by the Beef Checkoff to promote beef on behalf of producers. This week, Heather Buckmaster, executive director of the Oklahoma Beef Council, visits with us about the programs reflected in the Checkoff’s budget for this fiscal year. Listen to Buckmaster speak with Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays about this topic, by clicking or tapping the LISTEN BAR below at the bottom of the page.
“We are excited about this year’s plan of work because we believe it delivers on all three of our strategic priorities including growing consumer trust, improving beef’s value proposition and embracing global exports,” Buckmaster said. “We’re going to be investing $1.74 million in programs of promotion research, consumer information, industry information, international marketing and producer communications.”
More specifically, Buckmaster says the investments will fund initiatives in state and national digital marketing promotions, international efforts in Japan, South Korea and Africa, the OBC’s continued outreach to health professionals, ag literacy programs, Beef for the Classroom and the Masters of Beef Advocacy program- among other new marketing efforts soon to be announced.
