NCBA Task Force on Reorganization Begins Job of Listening
Fri, 18 Jul 2008 11:04:07 CDTThe reorganization process for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association has officially begun with a listening and discussion session here in Denver at the Summer Cattle Conference. NCBA's President Andy Groseta has appointed a Task Force to look at every aspect of the cattle organization- asking them to report back to the membership recommendations for reorganization.
The first public exposure for this brand new task force came in a public forum late Thursday afternoon here in Denver. They asked members to put their ideas down on paper and then report on them back to the assembled audience in the meeting- ideas of what they need to examine- things to change and things that people think are working and should be left alone.
One issue that will be raised is the efficiency of maintaining multiple offices in Denver, Chicago and Washington. Chicago houses only a test kitchen facility now, while most of the organization's administrative work happens in Denver with the Washington offices providing a base for the monitoring of the federal government's regulation of the beef cattle business- as well as lobbying efforts.
After this first meeting- we had the chance to visit with Jan Lyons of Kansas who is a Past President of the NCBA- and a co-chair of the task Force. We have that conversation for you below.
Our Event Coverage here in Denver is a service of Hudson Livestock Supplements.
