Agriculture producers looking for information about increasing water-use efficiency should make plans to attend the Oklahoma Irrigation Conference.

Saleh Taghvaeian, Oklahoma State University Extension water resource specialist, said attendees will receive the latest research-based information on many topics related to irrigation.

"It's important for producers to make informed decisions when it comes to water. Water is an important and much-needed resource," Taghvaeian said. "This conference is a great opportunity for participants to learn from some of the region's top experts."

Registration is $10 and due by February 20th. Registration is available online at oces.okstate.edu/caddo/oklahoma-irrigation-conference, or download the 2020 brochure and mail in the attached form. Registration includes lunch and break refreshments.

Industry specialists and scientists from OSU; Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry; Texas A&M AgriLife Center; USDA; University of Oklahoma; and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will be on hand to share their expertise.

There will be informative sessions on topics including weather variability, hemp production, discussion of the Upper Red River Basin study, sensor technologies for irrigation, how the Oklahoma Mesonet can benefit crop water use, salinity management for cotton production, updates on financial assistance programs and much more.

Participants have the opportunity to earn 4 certified crop advisor CEUs, including 2.5 CEUs in soil and water management and 1.5 CEUs in crop management.
For more information, contact Taghvaeian at 405-744-8395 or email at saleh.taghvaeian@okstate.edu.

This year's conference is hosted by OSU Extension and OSU's Water Resources Center and sponsored by two industry partners, OK Cotton Council and Americot NexGen.
