Enid’s Future of Food Forum

Today, the Enid Regional Development Alliance and the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology announced the speakers for the First Annual Future of Food Forum. This one day event is being held to highlight the innovations in the production, transportation, and consumption of food around the world and how Oklahoma can capitalize on these trends. The event is designed to appeal to those involved in the production of food commodities in Oklahoma, but also anyone who wants to learn more about where the food industry is heading.
The Future of Food Forum will include three industry speakers. They are:
Charles Studer, Director for Industry Relations with John Deere Company from Overland Park, Kansas
John Deere is a world-wide leader in the development of equipment used to produce food commodities. Mr. Studer will be speaking about trends and innovations in the design of farm equipment and how it will affect the production of food in the future.
Scott McWilliams, Regional Training Manager for Consolidated Grain and Barge (CGB) from Tulsa, Oklahoma
CGB purchased Johnston Grain in Enid in 2014 and has continued to grow in the area. They are one of the largest logistics companies in the world when it comes to the transportation of food products from the field to the consumer. Mr. McWilliams will be speaking about trends and innovations in the transportation of commodities around the world.
Chris Chanski, Vice President of National Accounts for AdvancePierre Foods from Maple Grove, Minnesota
AdvancePierre Foods is one of the largest processors of proteins for human consumption in the United States and the largest private employer in Enid. Mr. Chanski will be speaking about trends in the consumption of food around the world and how Oklahoma can capitalize on these changes.
“This event will be the first of its kind in our state,” said Brent Kisling, Executive Director for the Enid Regional Development Alliance. “Our state has a rich history of producing some of the best food commodities in the world, but seldom do we stop and consider our position in this supply chain and how we can better capitalize on it. People will always need food and; therefore, will always need the natural resources of our state. Anyone interested in this part of our Oklahoma economy should attend and be a part of the discussion.”
Michael Carolina, the Executive Director at the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology said, “OCAST works with Oklahoma’s technology based companies every day to identify innovations in the production of products and services. We are pleased to partner with the Enid Regional Development Alliance to turn our attention to the production of food which is at the heart of Oklahoma’s core competency. You don’t have to be involved in agriculture to appreciate the innovations taking place to bring these products to your dinner table efficiently and safely.”
