Political Pundit Duo Reunites for Profiles and Perspectives
Thursday, October 4, 2018
7:00 P.M.
Ardmore Convention Center

For one night only, the popular political pundits Burns Hargis and Mike Turpen will reunite as part of the 20th anniversary of the 'Noble Foundations Profiles and Perspectives Community Enrichment Series.
Hargis and Turpen, former co-hosts of KFOR's award-winning public affairs show "Flash Point," will team up again to present "Infotainment: Enough Sense to be Informative, Enough Nonsense to be Entertaining" before the midterm elections. Sponsored by the Noble Foundation, each Profiles and Perspectives event is free of charge and open to the public.

During their talk, Hargis and Turpen will offer a humorous and insightful discussion about the 2018 election cycle on the local, state and national levels. They will make bold predictions about the ultimate winners on Election Day, but - as Turpen often says - they may be wrong since both ran for Oklahoma governor and lost.

"We couldn't celebrate our 20th anniversary without bringing back this famous team," said J. Adam Calaway, Noble Research Institute director of communications and public relations and chair of the Profiles and Perspectives Committee. "Their humorous interaction and frank analysis bring the fun back to politics. They are sure to provide our audiences with more than a few laughs as well as a unique perspective on the issues."

In March, Hargis marked his 10th anniversary as president of Oklahoma State University, a role in which he oversees one of the nation's most comprehensive land-grant university systems. Turpen still co-hosts Flash Point with Turpen and Humphreys. Famed storm chaser and meteorologist Reed Timmer will conclude the Profiles and Perspectives season on October 23, 2018, with his presentation, "The Science of Storm Chasing". His presentation will cover all topics related to chasing, from the role of storm chasers in the severe weather warning process and disaster response to a record-breaking hurricane season in 2017.
