Harvest Update Don Schieber Talks Harvest in Minco- June 15, 2009

Harvest Update Don Schieber Talks Harvest in Minco- June 15, 2009 Clinton Griffiths, the host of SUNUP, the weekly TV production of Oklahoma State's Division of Agriculture, was in the Minco area on Monday afternoon and caught up with Kay County wheat farmer Don Schieber, who also does some custom cutting in various locations across Oklahoma. They talked about the 2009 wheat crop which Schieber described as a "wreck." There was good news and bad news from Schieber as he indicated that yields were better than had been expected, but that quality was rather poor. We have Don's comments, courtesy of SUNUP and Clinton Griffiths, linked on our Listen Bar below. Click and take a listen.

Griffiths tells us that the crew was waiting for the moisture levels to come down to acceptable levels from 18% moisture down to 13% or lower before they would start cutting. By the time this interview was over and another test cutting was made- the moisture level had fallen to an acceptable level and the combines began rolling.
