Antibiotics and Dust- The Top Two Key Issues for Cattlemen in Washington

Wed, 27 Jan 2010 8:17:02 CST

Antibiotics and Dust- The Top Two Key Issues for Cattlemen in Washington Two of the key issues that will challenge the ability of cattle producers to be able to stay on the land and in business were highlighted in a conversation that we had this morning as the NCBA's Cattlemen's College kicked off at the 2010 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in San Antonio.

Colin Woodall is the Vice President for Legislative Affairs in Washington for the NCBA- and we asked him which issues would he put right at the top of the list, if he had to only work on one or two of them, based on the available resources he had allocated.

Woodall says that he would focus his time and attention on Antibiotics and Dust. He told us that an education campaign is underway and while resources are being used to work with members of Congress and their staffs on these two issues- they are so critical in the danger they pose to the future of the livestock industry, more probably needs to be done.

You can hear our quick conversation with Woodall as he prepared to speak on legislative issues in the opening session of the Cattlemen's College this morning. Click on the Listen Bar below to hear his comments on these two issues.
