Livestock Agriculture Needs Antibiotics to Produce Wholesome and Safe Meat
Wed, 24 Feb 2010 6:49:40 CST
On Tuesday, livestock and poultry groups hosted educational briefings on Capitol Hill to share the facts about the importance of tools like antibiotics in raising healthy food animals. The informational sessions were co-hosted by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association through beef checkoff funding, the National Chicken Council, National Pork Producers Council, National Milk Producers Federation, National Turkey Federation, American Meat Institute and National Meat Association.
On today's Beef Buzz, we talk about these sessions and hear from one of the presenters, Dr. Craig Rowles. According to Rowles - the educational sessions in Washington, D.C. were well attended. He says it's clear there is an interest at the legislative level to understand how antibiotics are used and how they can continue to be used properly and judiciously.

The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
