Rising Cattle Prices Across the Board Feel Good- OSU's Derrell Peel Talks Outlook
Sat, 03 Apr 2010 9:51:47 CDT
Our Friday Beef Buzz features more with OSU Extension Livestock Market Economist Dr. Derrell Peel, who believes that we have the potential to make money with feedlot cattle for much of this quarter- and he adds that the futures market seems to have opportunities to price cattle favorably out into the third quarter as well.
We also talk about the yearling and stocker market as it now stands. Dr. Peel observes that we have pastures greening up and "grass fever" will usually help calf prices.
We also talk about the corn market and how it will work through the ups and downs of the production of the 2010 crop- and what that may mean for cattle producers watching the cattle market.
Today's Beef Buzz is a followup from the Thursday report when we had Dr. Peel talking about higher boxed Beef prices and what they may be telling us about beef demand. Click here for that report from our Beef Buzz page.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well. Click on the listen bar below for today's show- and check out our archives for older Beef Buzz shows covering the gamut of the beef cattle industry today.
