NSP Fly-In Kicks Off Congressional Session
Fri, 10 Sep 2010 17:22:24 CDTAs Congress returns to work Tuesday, an influx of lobbyists will also be seen in our nation’s capitol. Over 20 sorghum producers and industry leaders, representing the National Sorghum Producers Association, will be in Washington though Wednesday visiting with members of Congress, Senators and key leaders in legislative and regulatory arenas. The NSP D.C. Fly-In is an annual event that gives producers the opportunity to make their priorities known to their Congressional representation and key decision makers in D.C.
Sorghum delegates will make visits with Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Blanche Lincoln’s office and Ranking Member Saxby Chambliss, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson and Ranking Member Frank Lucas, EPA Chief Agriculture Counselor Larry Elworth, NRCS Chief Larry White, and key policy makers from Oklahoma as well as Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arkansas.
