BREAKING NEWS- Rusty Kenner has brought home a GUSHER!!! This young man, who operates a family Water Well Drilling Business, is the American Star in Agribusiness here at the 2010 National Convention of the FFA Organization!
Here is our earlier story with Rusty as he waited on Friday afternoon to know if his name was to be called out Saturday morning or not.
The judging for the four different "Stars" in American Agriculture was done on Thursday- and now it's time to wait for the sixteen young people who are the regional finalists in each of the four areas. That includes Rusty Kenner of the Cheyenne, Ok FFA Chapter, a Regional Star in Agribusiness here in 2010.
When he was deeded the family business, Rusty Kenner looked forward to proving himself when others expected him to fail. Kenner and his brother took a diversified business that had been in decline for five years and turned it back into the reputable businesses his grandfather created.
Shortly after entering high school, Kenner was able to restart the family well drilling business by refurbishing old equipment. During the past five years, the business has drilled more than 150 wells and repaired dozens of other wells. Kenner continues to expand his business with word-of-mouth marketing. Kenner also operates a custom hay swathing and baling company.
We caught up with Rusty on Friday afternoon in Conseco Fieldhouse, and talked with him about his Agribusiness operation and his path to become a "Star." Click on the LISTEN BAR to hear our conversation with this young man from Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
