Looking into 2011- Texas Economist Sees Cattle Market Optimism
Tue, 21 Dec 2010 5:55:42 CST
Another look at the cattle market comes here at the end of 2010 from Texas AgriLife Extension Livestock Marketing Economist Dr. David Anderson, who believes that higher cattle prices are likely in 2011, as tighter supplies will be one of the driving forces in the new year.
We talk with Anderson about several factors impacting price outlook as 2010 winds down- including the fact that we have had plenty of dairy cows coming to market because of a disasterous dairy product market. He notes a booming export market initially sheltered the industry somewhat from the impact of increased costs. But the market dropped when the recession hit and there was a lot of milk production weighing on the market. Anderson says it all added up to a difficult time for dairy producers.
