Prices Above a Dollar a Pound- One Reason May be More Leather Seats
Tue, 07 Dec 2010 7:45:29 CST
"Extremely high prices" is how Erica Rosa of the Livestock Market Information Center describes last week cash cattle market. We saw $104 paid liberally last Tuesday for cattle in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, according to the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. A lot of cattle off of this week's showlist were apparently purchased- and many cattle market watchers believe we could see steady to higher money again this week.
We talk on today's Beef Buzz with Erica Rosa of the LMIC about the current market- what's ahead and one of the key factors of the current market, a very strong drop credit. Pictured here is a leather seat- and it appears that hide prices have jumped at least thirty percent above last year's levels- with one of the reasons being improving auto sales. (More leather seats means more demand for cattle hides which raises the drop credit)
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
