Soybean Checkoff Priorities In Oklahoma- Steve Wooderson Explains All
Thu, 20 Jan 2011 6:34:04 CST
A good crowd showed up for the 2011 Oklahoma Soybean Expo in Stillwater- as the Expo slipped into town the day before snow and ice would have shut it down. Several OSU Plant and Soil Science Department representatives spoke to the crowd, as did the new Secretary of Agriculture for the state of Oklahoma, Jim Reese.
One of the sponsors of the Soybean Expo was the Oklahoma Soybean Board. We talked with their Chairman, Steve Wooderson of Kay County, about the Board and their priorities in how to best spend checkoff monies generated by the sale of soybeans in the state of Oklahoma. The website of the Oklahoma Soybean Board speaks of the mission of the group chaired by Wooderson- "From uncovering solutions to yield-robbing pests and diseases to building demand for soybeans, the Oklahoma Soybean Board and the soybean checkoff work to increase the profitability of soybean production in Oklahoma."
