Lyndall Stout and Kim Anderson Talking Wheat Marketing on This Week's SUNUP
Fri, 18 Feb 2011 6:52:43 CST
Oklahoma State University Grain marketing Economist Dr. Kim Anderson has told Lyndall Stout of SUNUP that he expects wheat prices this coming June at harvest will be significantly higher than they were last June- but that prices could trend lower once we can past our harvest season. He adds that between now and harvest, the wheat market will be volatile- and that our weather in the middle part of the United States (the traditional bread basket of the country) will help drive price direction as we near the harvest season.
You can hear Kim and Lyndall's full conversation that will be seen on this weekend's SUNUP by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below.
Besides Kim Anderson's comments with the hostess of SUNUP- there is a full lineup of features planned for this week on the show. They include:
An update on Oklahoma's wheat crop with Jeff Edwards and Eric DeVuyst. We'll discuss the recent bitter cold snap, first hollow stem identification and determining the best time to move cattle off winter wheat.
In Naturally Speaking, John Weir explains what a county-issued burn ban encompasses.
In the Mesonet outlook, Al Sutherland and his team map Oklahoma's record low temperatures.
Glenn Selk details how grazing cattle on wheat could impact reproductive rates.
In Shop Stop, Randy and Wayne demonstrate how to identify and change a simple fuse to provide power to a trailer while driving.
Damona Doye gives tips on organizing your farm finances with Quicken.
Finally, we close the show with wildlife video featuring hundreds of Sandhill Cranes, recently taking an afternoon break in a field in Major County.
SUNUP airs Saturday mornings at 7:30 on your local OETA channel.
