Red Meat Exports Still on Record-Setting Pace

The U.S. Meat Export Federation says U.S. beef and pork exports continued on a record-setting pace in March - beef increasing in value by 65-percent compared to levels a year ago and pork increasing 40-percent. During the first three months of the year - compared to the first quarter of 2010 - beef exports are up 32-percent in volume and 53-percent in value while pork exports are up 18-percent in volume and 25-percent in value. USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng says there is a rebounding global demand for high-quality U.S. red meat products - especially as consumer trust recovers in key markets like Japan and South Korea.
