USDA Rural Development Asking for Participation in Regulation Review
Tue, 19 Jul 2011 09:09:53 CDT
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is inviting partners and customers to provide input in its efforts to reform the regulations that govern its Rural Development programs.
Ryan McMullen, State Director for USDA Rural Development, will host a forum for Oklahoma's Rural Development customers on Wednesday, July 20. The session will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Seminar Center of the Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The afternoon will begin with a brief overview of the over 40 housing, business, and community infrastructure programs administered by USDA Rural Development. McMullen and his staff will then conduct a listening session in which participants are encouraged to provide ideas to be considered during the USDA's regulation reform process.
The meeting is part of a nationwide effort by USDA to solicit public input in its efforts to modernize program regulations. The effort is a result of President Obama's executive order requiring Federal agencies to thoroughly review existing regulations, repealing or streamlining those that are antiquated or excessively burdensome.
Suggestions may be submitted electronically to rdregreform@usda.gov. Those wishing to attend the meeting are requested to RSVP to marvin.lewis@ok.usda.gov.
