WheatWatch2012- Pictures Taken October 27 of Just Emerging Hard Red Winter Wheat Crop

WinterWheat in Central Oklahoma is starting to emerge- and in some cases really starting to get established. On Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2011, we rolled out Northwest Highway into Canadian County, where we stopped at a couple of fields- one that is just emerging and a second field that is mostly "up to stand."
These pictures came after a third round of showers had rolled through this area during the month of October- after the first week of October. The picture above and the first couple of pictures below are of that first field- just emerging as you can tell from clearly seeing the drill rows sweeping back and forth.
The last couple of pictures below are about a half mile down the road, with a wheat field that was a week or so further along as far as getting up to stand and becoming established.
We will be watching and reporting on the 2012 winter wheat crop over the next nine months- our WheatWatch reports are a service in part of the Oklahoma Wheat Commission, click here to learn more about how they are putting your wheat checkoff funds to work for wheat producers.
These pictures were all taken of wheat fields in Canadian County, Oklahoma on October 27, 2011
