As a part of the 2011 Homecoming celebration in Stillwater, Oklahomans Scott Dewald, Terry Stuart Forst and Don Schieber were honored as the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources recipients by Oklahoma State University.
A native and resident of Ponca City, Don Schieber (shown here with OSU Dean of Agriculture Robert Whitson) earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in agronomy from Oklahoma State University in 1968 and 1970, respectively, and then assumed the key leadership role of superintendent of OSU's North-Central Oklahoma Agronomy Research Station, a position he held until 1973.
Since that time- Don has worked in volunteer roles with the Oklahoma Association of Wheat Growers, the Oklahoma Wheat Commission and he served over the past year as Chairman of US Wheat Associates.
"The successes of each stand as a testament to the positive influence our graduates can and do have in their chosen career fields and in their communities," said Robert E. Whitson, vice president, dean and director of OSU's Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. "They embody a standard of sustained excellence to be held in the highest regard."
After Don Schieber's reception on Friday morning in Ag Hall, we talked for a few moment with Dean Whitson about all three of the CASNR honorees. Click on the LISTEN BAR below to hear our conversation.
We have pictures from all three Receptions held on Friday on the campus of OSU for Schieber, Scott Dewald and Terry Forst. Click here for our Flickr set of pictures of these events honoring these Alums of Distinction.
