Noble Foundation and Last American Ace Offer Presentation on Leadership

Fri, 21 Oct 2011 11:22:14 CDT

Noble Foundation and Last American Ace Offer Presentation on Leadership A command pilot with more than 3,000 flying hours, Brig. Gen. Steve Ritchie (Ret.) is one of the last American aces. Today, he is utilizing all of his training and experience to discuss leadership for success in business and life.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, Ritchie will present "Leadership That Inspires Excellence" as part of the Noble Foundation's 2011-2012 Profiles and Perspectives Community Enrichment Series. Sponsored by the Noble Foundation, each Profiles and Perspectives event is free of charge and open to the public. All programs begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Ardmore Convention Center.

"Gen. Ritchie is one of our country's greatest leaders both on the battlefield and in business," said Mary Kate Wilson, Noble Foundation director of granting and chair of the Profiles and Perspectives Committee. "He has developed the skills and attitudes necessary to any successful leader, and he will share with our audience these key principles."

Flying with the 555th (Triple Nickel) TFS in 1972, Ritchie became the only Air Force pilot ace of the Vietnam conflict and the only American pilot ever to down five MiG-21s. Having flown more than 800 hours of combat during 339 missions, he is one of the most decorated pilots in military history. Ritchie is a winner of the Air Force Cross, four Silver Stars, 10 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 25 Air Medals.

During his presentation, Ritchie will discuss how his "team" enabled him to survive hundreds of hours of combat and how building a team is crucial to achieving any goal.

"Gen. Ritchie focuses his presentation on how the support services from thousands of devoted military and civilian professionals allowed him to find success in the air," Wilson said. "It's a story of how teamwork, positive discipline and leadership resulted in victory for everyone. It will undoubtedly inspire us all."

Ritchie's presentation will conclude the fall portion of Profiles and Perspectives. After the holiday break, the season will continue with a special look at the Noble Foundation's own pioneering history and research. The organization's leadership team will present "Growing a Better Tomorrow: The Noble Foundation's Role in World Agriculture." This presentation will be Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012.

The season will conclude on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, with Michael Wallis' presentation "A Journey Through Oklahoma and the Wild West." A best-selling author and award-winning reporter, Michael Wallis is a historian and biographer of the American West. Wallis will speak about the Wild West aspects of Oklahoma, as both a territory and state, based on his research and writing.
