First Hollow Stem Progressing Rapidly; Updated Measurements
The latest first hollow stem measurements (02/24/12) from El Reno and Stillwater are posted below. Note how quickly first hollow stem has progressed at both locations. Fannin, for example, has jumped from 1 cm of hollow stem on February 16 to 4.3 cm of hollow stem today. Deliver jumped from 0.4 cm of hollow stem to 1.5 cm of hollow stem in four days at Stillwater. Given the forecasted temperatures for this week, it is doubtful there will be any wheat outside of the Panhandle not at first hollow stem in the next week.

If you are questioning graze out decisions, please make use of the online graze out decision tool available from OSU. A fact sheet describing how to use the decision aid with a link to the decision aid can be found on the OSU website by clicking here.
