Canola and Wheat Photos Updated on Flickr- Take a Look!
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 05:40:49 CDT
We have added pictures to our Flickr pages over the weekend, as both the winter canola crop and the 2012 Winter Wheat Crop rapidly matures and rolls closer to harvest. Both crops are well ahead of normal maturity, with good to excellent ratings seen statewide.
On April 20th, we found canola still blooming in Woodward County on state highway 3 between Woodward and Seiling- coupled with a puffy cloud blue sky, the yellow flowers look spectacular. The canola itself also looks really good in this northwest Oklahoma location, with yield potential of 1500 to 2000 pounds per acre. Click here for our set of 2012 Canola photos on Flickr- scroll to the bottom of the set of pics to see these latest Woodward County canola shots.
We also added pictures from April 20th and April 24th to our set of 2012 WheatWatch photos. These pictures come from Kingfisher on the 20th and southwest Oklahoma around Chattanooga and Walters on the 24th. In both cases, the crop is headed and in southwest Oklahoma- the color is starting to turn with harvest not that many days away. Our thanks to Mike Schulte of the Oklahoma Wheat Commission for sharing those shots from southwest Oklahoma. The first picture below is from Kingfisher- the second shot is from southwest Oklahoma. Click here for our complete 2012 WheatWatch photo set, which shows wheat all the way from just being seeded to these more recent shots.
