Wheatwatch 2012: Harvest Running on All Four Cylinders All Over the State
Harvest has expanded all over the state of Oklahoma this week and the reports are pouring into the Oklahoma Wheat Commission.

After weekend rains, the hot, windy Oklahoma weather has taken over and the conditions are perfect for harvesting this year's crop. As expected, far SW Oklahoma is wrapping up and is 80% complete. Other areas in SW Oklahoma are just getting a good start and the wheat is rolling into the elevators.

Southern Oklahoma:

Cassidy Grain in Frederick is 80% complete and are now taking wheat from local producers who have just got into the fields this week. The Custom Crews have headed North. Cassidy has taken in close to 2M bushels with test weights ranging from 50 - 60. Moisture has held around 9-10 and yields are all over from 25 to 65 bushels per acre with an average of 35.

Chickasha has taken in around 90,000 bushels and test weights are averaging 57 with moisture at 11.5. Yields in this area are from 30 - 60 bushels per acre. The 30 bushel wheat is from grazed wheat and also some wheat that is down due to weather.

Apache has received 417,000 bushels, test weights averaging 58.7 and moisture at 9-11. This information is from their 4 locations in SW Oklahoma.

Walters has taken in 2.15M bushels with test weights averaging 58 and moisture at 10. Yields are in the 30's and 50's with the average being 35 bushels per acre.

Sentinel Coop has taken in 482,000 bushels with test weights averaging 59 and moisture from 9-10. Yields are ranging from 35 - 65 bushels per acre.

The Bessie/Cordell Coop has taken in 715,000 bushels with test weights averaging 58 and moisture from 10-11. No real yield numbers are being reporting, but just like other elevators in this area, most of the yields are ranging from 30 - 55 bushels per acre.

North Central and Northern Oklahoma:

Banner Coop-Harvest is starting in this area slowly but surely. It looks like harvest has made its usual leap frog North while producers have been waiting for the straw in this region to be ready for harvesting. Test weights have come down in this region with the rains of this past weekend. The test weights were reported from 53-58 pounds on what has been harvested so far.

Okarche- Harvest in this part of Central Oklahoma is progressing fast. Producers in this area are reporting high test weights ranging from 60-64 lbs. Yields in this area East of Okarche up into Cashion are reported to be making higher than normal. We have been hearing reports of averages making around 40 to 45 bushels per acre with some fields reported to be coming in at 60 bushels per acre.

Kingfisher- Wheat being taken in from this region West and North of Kingfisher has been coming in with high test weights. A lot of wheat reported to be having test weights of 60-62 lbs. The yields in this region are being reported to be making around 38-40 bushels per acre. Protein levels coming in from this region have been reported from 11.5 to 12 percent.

Bison-The test weights with the wheat coming in from this region are doing well. Reports of a 62lb. average on the wheat that has come in so far. Not a lot of dockage on the wheat in this area. Reports on wheat harvested ranging from 35 bushels per acre to some even making 60 bushels per acre.
A lot of the wheat coming in around Bison is making in the mid forties.

Goltry- Harvest has just started in this region with not much being taken in.

Garber/Covington- Harvest is just getting started in this area with good yields being reported so far. Test weights are averaging 61 lbs. Yields being reported at this point are showing an average in the mid-40's. One producer in this region reported a 160 acre field he had to have made 80 bushels per acre.

Perry/Ponca City- In the Perry region test weights on the wheat have been averaging 56-58 lbs., in the Ponca City region test weights have been coming in at 61-64 lbs. Yields on the heavily grazed wheat were coming in at 30 bushels per acre with other yields in this region reported to be making 50-55 bushels per acre.

Pond Creek/Hunter/ Lamont- Harvest is continuing to move in this area of the state as well. Yields are being reported from 38 bushels per acre to 45 bushels per acre. Test weights from this area are averaging over 60lbs. Proteins are ranging from 11.5 to 12 percent being reported. With more wheat anticipated to be coming in at that higher level of 12 percent.

Alva-Harvest is just getting a good start in this part of the state. No yields have been reported from this region, we have has some 57 and 58 pound test weights reported, along with many test weights being reported at 60-62 lbs.

Shattuck-Wheat harvest in this region is also just starting. So far test weights in this part of the world are ranging from 56-59 lbs. The yields in this area that have been reported are ranging from 30-45 bushels per acre.

We would like to thank the Ag Day crew and the SunUp crew for spending time with our producers out in the field. As the programs become available, we will post the links on our facebook page.

Everyone have a great and safe Holiday Weekend (even tho we are all going to be in the field J ) and look for our next report on Tuesday.

Visit the Oklahoma Wheat Commission's Facebook page for more daily updates and photos from the field.
