Marty Jones of Owasso Advances in Quest to be National Officer- Our Wednesday Morning Update

Good news for Oklahoma FFA- Marty Jones of Owasso has survived the first and only preliminary cut on the road to becoming a National Officer of the 500,000 plus member organization. Jones is a student at Oklahoma State University- and was one of 41 national officer candidates that arrived in Indianapolis this past Saturday. After several rounds with the National Nominating Committee, his name was read off as one of 20 candidates that remains in the hunt for one of six National Officer slots for 2012-2013.

Breaking down his chances a little more- there are now five candidates left in the Western Region that Oklahoma is a part of- and you could have two national officers emerge from that group of five. Marty has more work to do- and will be in front of the Nominating Committee again later today- and their decision of who the six national officers will be won't be known until the closing minutes of the 2012 Convention on Saturday afternoon.

On Tuesday- we took several pictures of work that has gone on to get ready for the onslaught of FFA members pouring into downtown Indianapolis- including a look at behind the scenes of the National Convention general session venue- and a few shots of the current National Officer team practicing what they will be doing on stage.
