Choice Boxed Beef prices and the finished cattle trade drop 3 to 4 dollars lower for week ending September 28, 2012 - Audio with Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News Office, Amarillo, Texas

In this week's beef report with Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News Office in Amarillo, Texas, we saw the choice cut market end the week of September 28, lose $4.36 last week at $188.98 cwt. Over $3.00 of that total was lost on Friday the 28th. The total boxed beef volume last week 7,448 loads.
The general trend in the finished cattle trade was $3.00 to $4.00 lower than the previous week at mostly $123.00 cwt in the South. Trade volume was extremely light.
The dressed trade was mostly $4.00 to $5.00 lower at $190.00 to $191.00 cwt.
The harvest weight last week from the Texas Panhandle was 1,284 pounds, 27 pounds higher than the previous week.
