Oklahoma Dairy Producer Brett Morris Reappointed to Cattlemen's Beef Board

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced 33 appointments to the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board. All appointees will serve three-year terms.
Newly appointed members representing cattle producers are: Barbara Jackson, Ariz.; Tom Parks, DVM, Colo.; Cynthia Greiman and Dean Black, Iowa; Daniel Herrmann and Larry Oltjen, Kan.; Genevieve Lyons, La.; Andrew Salinas, Mich.; Theodor Reichmann, Minn.; David McCormick, Miss.; Kevin Frankenbach, Mo.; Judith Reece and Joan Ruskamp, Neb.; Tamara Ogilvie, N.M.; Jane Clifford, Northeast Unit; Ernest Harris, N.C.; Brett Morris, Okla.; Danni Beer and Linda Gilbert, S.D.; Craig Kesler, Southeast Unit; Darrell Sweet and Annalynn Settelmeyer, Southwest Unit; Larry Pratt, Dave Edmiston, Bruce Dopslauf, and Charles Risinger, M.D., Texas; Laurie Munns, Utah; Randall Geiger, Martin Andersen, and Lloyd De Ruyter, Wis.; and Spencer Ellis, Wyo.
Newly appointed members representing importers are John O'Carroll and Bradley Busse.
Several of these producers are reappointments, including Brett Morris of Ninekah, Oklahoma. Brett is a third-generation dairy farmer and runs a dairy, cow/calf and stocker operation, as well as the Washita Fertilizer Company, in partnership with his father. Theirs is a diversified farm operation, including about 1,000 acres of alfalfa, wheat and grassland, 65 registered Holstein cows for milking, 100-125 beef cows, and 200 stocker calves. Brett was nominated to the Beef Board by the Dairy Farmers Of America (DFA), and is very active in both industry and community activities. He has served as chairman of the Oklahoma Dairy Commission, vice chairman of the Oklahoma Johne's Advisory Committee, as a district voting delegate to DFA, and as vice chairman of the Oklahoma Beef Council, on which he has served since 2005.
Morris is one of five Oklahoma cattle producers who represent cattle producers on the CBB.
The Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985 authorize the 103-member board. dThe Secretary selects the appointees from nominations submitted by eligible organizations representing beef, veal, and dairy producers and importers of cattle, beef, or beef products.
