AFBF President Bob Stallman Addresses the 2013 American Farm Bureau Convention in Nashville- Full Audio Here

The President of the American Farm Bureau, Bob Stallman, addressed the 94th Annual Convention of the organization on Sunday morning at the Opryland Gaylord Convention Center in Nashville. You can click on the audio LISTEN BAR to hear his full remarks to the some 6,000 convention goers gathered.
Stallman spoke of the relevance of US agriculture, saying when you are feeding people- you are DARN relevant. He also spoke of the 2012 farm bill process, saying that while the one year extension offers certainty for 2013- it falls short of what AFBF hoped for in an outcome.
He praised the permanent solutions of the capital gains tax and the estate tax achieved on New Year's Day as good news for farmers and ranchers- noting that if the Estate Tax exemption had been rolled back to the million dollar level- that would have protect 120 acres of midwest farmland selling at $8,000 per acre.
Stallman says that Farm Bureau wants a fix for farm labor problems- noting they are a par of a new coalition looking for answers in this arena.
Stallman spoke of regulatory challenges and a few of the victories that AFBF is proud of.
Stallman concluded his annual address to the membership- saying that the organization is looking to the future- wanting to stay strong and relevant- but at the same time nimble. He says that he wants every Farm Bureau member to be able to say in the years ahead that they are "Farm Bureau Proud."
