Winter Canola Crop Update- Here Are the Latest Canola Pictures as of March 18, 2013

According to the latest crop weather update- Condition ratings for all small grains and canola continued to improve. Wheat, rye and oats were rated mostly good to fair, while canola was rated mostly fair to poor. Wheat jointing was 31 percent complete by Sunday, on track with the five- year average.
Specifically for Canola- 22% of the crop is rated very poor, 29% is poor, 27% is in fair shape, 21% is in good condition and 1 percent is now rated in excellent shape.
The pictures here are of a canola field in northeastern Canadian County- one of the healthier plants we found in that field is show at the top of this story- however, it was surrounded by bare dirt.
The next couple of pictures below show the field as of March 18, 2013. This field has potential- but would probably be rated in poor condition because there is a lot of dirt being seen where we missed out on as good of a stand as would be most advantagous.
The bottom two pictures are of the same canola field two months earlier- these pictures taken on January 8, 2013. Things have improved from January through mid March based on a visual inspection and the pictures we were able to take.
We have pictures of the 2013 Canola crop on our Flickr page- click here for the 2013 Canola Crop set of photos for you to see.
