House Approves Farm Bill Farm Bill 216 to 208- Lucas Statement and Audio

UPDATED- The GOP Leadership whipping effort pays off the second time around with a final vote of 216 to 208 in favor of the Farm Bill sans Nutrition. It's fate in Conference with the Senate is unknown.
After the vote- the Chairman of the House Ag Committee, Frank Lucas, issued the following statement regarding final passage of the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management (FARRM) Act of 2013
"Today was an important step toward enacting a five-year farm bill this year that gives our farmers and ranchers certainty, provides regulatory relief to small businesses across the country, significantly reduces spending, and makes common-sense, market-oriented reforms to agricultural policy. I look forward to continuing conversations with my House colleagues and starting conversations with my Senate colleagues on a path forward that ultimately gets a farm bill to the President's desk in the coming months," said Chairman Frank Lucas.

After starting the Rules debate shortly before 9 AM central time this morning, the closed rule was approved and the detate for the "Farm Only" farm bill has just concluded with the final word claimed by the Chairman of the House Ag Committee, Frank Lucas of Oklahoma's Third District. Lucas told the members of the House "I have amazing amounts of faith in you" and added that this is the "appropriate way to pass the Farm Bill Farm Bill, which will allow me to begin work on the Nutrition part of the farm bill."
Over five hours after the process began this morning and as voting begins, it is still unknown if the GOP Leadership have the necessary 218 votes to pass H R 2642.
