Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 09/30/2013


   

Estimated Receipts: 7000   Last Monday: 7914   Yr Ago Monday: 4780

Compared to last week: Feeder cattle and calves 3.00-5.00 higher,Feeder heifers up to 6.00 higher. Numbers of light weight calves lightly tested. Quality mostly average. Corn prices continue lower, and cash slaughter cattle prices moved higher last week fueling the demand for feeder cattle. Rains moved in over the weekend bringing some much needed moisture to much of the state as well as more fall like temperatures. After a few drying days, wheat planting will be in full swing once again.

Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1: Calves: few 400-500 lbs 182.00- 200.00, lot 485 lbs fancy 201.00; 500-550 lbs 172.00-189.00, 525 lbs fancy 190.00; 550-600 lbs 167.00-171.00, 600-675 lbs 153.00-164.00; 700-725 lbs 155.00-157.00; Yearlings: 600-700 lbs 162.50-172.00, fancy 175.50-180.00; 700-750 lbs 165.25-172.25; 750-800 lbs 159.00-166.00; 800-900 lbs 153.00- 163.50; few 900-935 lbs 146.00-147.75; lot 1015 lbs 144.00.   Medium and large 1-2: 500-525 lbs 170.00-178.00; 600-700 lbs 162.25-164.00; 700-750 lbs 158.00-165.00; lot 795 lbs 152.00; 800-875 lbs 148.00-154.50.

Feeder Heifers Medium and Large 1: Calves: few 400-500 lbs 158.00- 176.00, lot 450 lbs fancy 180.00; 500-575 lbs 156.00-165.00, lot 510 lbs fancy 176.50; 600-650 lbs 150.00-157.00; 650-700 lbs 146.50-150.00; few 700-785 lbs 137.00-137.50; Yearlings: 600-700 lbs 154.00-165.00; 700-800 lbs 148.50-158.00; 800-860 lbs 141.25-147.75.
   
Medium and large 1-2: 425-500 lbs 155.00-164.00; 500-575 lbs 148.00-156.50; 625-675 lbs 148.00-151.00; 700-750 lbs 139.00-148.00, lot 700 lbs thin fleshed 153.50.
