Oklahoma FFA Claims Most National Three Star Chapters for Second Year in a Row
Tue, 29 Oct 2013 09:40:49 CDT
Oklahoma FFA Chapters have once again shown they are the cream of the crop nationally as the Oklahoma FFA Association has the largest numbers of National Three Star Chapters in the US. Of the chapters that developed a program that earned a three star award at the state level in Oklahoma earlier this year, the thirty six highest ranked chapters eligible for this year submitted their paperwork on the accomplishments of their group- and thirty of them have been declared National Three Star Chapters for 2013- and will be honored here in Louisville during the 2013 National FFA Convention. The other six chapters received a two star national ranking by the FFA Organization.
We talked with Jack Staats, the State Advisor for the Oklahoma FFA, about the achievements of the top Chapters here in Oklahoma- and you can hear our conversation with Mr. Staats by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below.
Chapters that receive a gold rating by their state FFA associations are eligible to compete for National FFA their 3-star, 2-star or 1-star ratings. Each chapter that competes for these awards will receive a multi-year plaque and a spur designating their 3-star, 2-star or 1-star rating. They will receive additional spurs for each year they compete and receive a rating from the National FFA Organization. Chapters that receive a national 3-star chapter rating will be eligible to compete for the National Model of Innovation, Model of Excellence and Outstanding Middle School Chapter Awards.
In recent years, Oklahoma has been in the top tier of states when it comes to the number of National Three Star awards are earned by their chapters. What makes the Oklahoma accomplishment even more impressive is the every other year rule that Oklahoma FFA Chapters live under. Because of the intense competition among Oklahoma chapters to rank at the very highest levels in the state and even nationally, an Oklahoma chapter has to sit out a year once they achieve a national Three Star ranking by the National FFA Organization. So, with thirty chapters winning the honor in 2012- and another thirty in 2013- it shows how deep and wide the quality pool of Chapters are in the state of Oklahoma.
For the 2013 competition- here are the thirty Oklahoma FFA Chapers that have qualified for this highest chapter award available from the national organization.
