Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 01/27/2014


   

Estimated Receipts: 8800   Last Monday: 14,150 Year Ago Monday: 6303

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly steady to 1.00 lower. Feeder heifers mostly steady. Steer and heifer calves steady in a light test. Demand moderate to good following the negative Cattle on Feed Report and 3 days of lower cattle futures. Quality plain thru attractive.   Strong cold front blew in Sunday night dropping temperatures some 40 degrees from the mid 60's over the weekend. Strong winds and very low humidity's continue to dry out wheat pastures that are already in need of moisture.

   
Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1: Calves: few 375-400 lbs 226.00-231.00; 435-450 lbs 221.00-229.00; 450-500 lbs 214.00-228.00; lot 500 lbs fancy 226.50; 525-550 lbs 201.00-218.00; few 550-600 lbs 189.00-200.00; lot 660 lbs 170.00; Yearlings: 600-650 lbs 176.50-187.00; 650-700 lbs 172.50-178.50, thin fleshed 179.00-183.00; 700-750 lbs 165.00-174.00; 750-800 lbs 162.00-167.00; 800-875 lbs 158.75-167.00; few 900-960 lbs 153.00-158.50.
   
Medium and Large 1-2: lot 420 lbs 217.00; 565 lbs 194.50; 575-600 lbs 178.00-186.00; 600-700 lbs 165.00-176.00; few 745-765 lbs 162.00-162.25; 800-900 lbs 154.50-160.00.
