Sun, 27 Jul 2014 17:23:45 CDT
Colin Woodall, VP for Legislative Affairs for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, was the featured speaker on Saturday morning for the OCA Annual Convention in Midwest City.
In advance of his comments with the cattle producers gathered, Ron Hays talked with Colin about several issues and you can see the video of that conversation by tapping on the play button in the video box below.
The conversation included a look at the current legislative wish list for the NCBA, what might happen in a lame duck session later this year and several key regulatory issues that NCBA is targeting including WOTUS- the Waters of the US Proposed Rule that Woodall called the "largest land grab we have ever seen from the Federal Government."
Woodall and Hays also talked about the NCBA concerns over the rule that might allow Brazil to ship fresh and frozen beef into the US and the ramping up of the latest fight over Dietary Guidelines.
They also discussed the 2014 Farm Law- and especially the rolling out of the Livestock Disaster Assistance program.
Finally- they circled back to WOTUS and talked about how ranchers can submit comments to the government and why it is so very important that EPA get bombarded with thousands of comments between now and October when the comment period closes.
Producers can actually submit comments through the NCBA website- click here for the NCBA website.
