Growth Energy Congratulates POET-DSM on Opening of Project LIBERTY

Following the grand opening of Project LIBERTY, a cutting edge ethanol plant and joint venture between American based POET LLC and Netherlands based DSM, which will produce up to 25 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol a year from corn crop residue, Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy, issued the following statement:

"Congratulations to POET-DSM. Growth Energy and the entire biofuels industry recognizes this massive achievement in the development and commercial scale production of cellulosic ethanol, as well as the steadfast determination of innovative thinkers and leaders like those at POET-DSM who have made it possible. Years of research, ingenuity, perseverance and sheer determination have built the game changing cellulosic ethanol plant we are celebrating today.

"The opening of Project LIBERTY marks the beginning of a new way in which we produce clean burning, renewable fuels. POET-DSM is leading way in the production of cellulosic biofuels. Their work and progress will help our nation in the pursuit of energy independence and mitigating climate change.

"Additionally, cellulosic ethanol in combination with corn ethanol will help reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels. Facilities such as Project LIBERTY create jobs right here in America, in towns like Emmetsburg, and build a strong agricultural economy, which strengthens our national economy. And, with increased production of cellulosic ethanol, consumers will have a greater choice and savings at the pump.

"The most exciting aspect of this technological breakthrough is that it is just the beginning. The extensive research and development pioneered by POET-DSM and others will soon be used across America and throughout the world to convert cellulose, the world's most abundant organic compound, into energy that will not only fuel our cars, but fuel our future."
