OALP Receives $1,000 Grant From CREC Foundation

The Central Rural Electric Cooperative (CREC) Foundation board recently approved a $1,000 grant for the Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership Program. The funds will go toward transportation costs of the program.
"The OALP greatly appreciates the support from the CREC Foundation," said Edmond Bonjour, OALP director.
OALP is designed to provide a select group of Oklahoman's with training and experiences that enables agriculture professionals to attain leadership roles. The program focuses on empowering agriculture leaders by increasing awareness of Oklahoma's agricultural industry in relation to local, state, national and international problems and opportunities. Participants also expand their knowledge of understanding the U.S. economic, political, cultural and social systems, and how they affect Oklahoma agriculture. The program also focuses on broadening individuals' perspective on the major issues affecting agriculture and the U.S. society. OALP also strives to increase participants' abilities to analyze and react to challenges facing Oklahoma agriculture and its' rural communities, while also increasing leadership involvement and activities on a local, state or national level.
OALP is headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma and is designed for men and women in the early stages of their leadership careers. Applicants are reviewed by a selection committee consisting of OALP alumni and Oklahoma State University faculty members.
Oklahoma agriculture is in a state of constant change, and OALP aims to develop well-rounded leaders who are skilled in communications, educated in national and world affairs, familiar with the changing needs of our society, and prepared to lead the Oklahoma agricultural sector into tomorrow's challenges.
