Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 09/22/2014

Estimated Receipts: 8100   Last Monday: 7821   Year Ago Monday: 7914

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers traded mostly steady to 3.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves weak to 8.00 lower. Once again, very few true yearlings on offer with the majority of the supply consisting of un-weaned calves. Largest demand has been recorded on larger packages of weaned cattle. Temperatures are forecasted to remain mild in the 70's and 80's all week. According to the US Drought Monitor, this is the 9th wettest summer on record for the US. Three months ago 48 percent of Oklahoma was rated in the Extreme to Exceptional Drought category. Following the exceptional rains this summer only 12 percent of the state remains in the Extreme to Exceptional drought category today.
