Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 10/15/2014

Receipts: 6035    Last Week: 5708    Year Ago: N/A

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 8.00-10.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves under 400 lbs steady to 2.00 higher; over 400 lbs steady to 4.00 lower. Demand moderate for feeders and heavy weight calves; good for light weight and weaned calves. Quality plain to average, few attractive. Cattle futures followed the sharp declines in the Dow Jones on Wednesday, causing some grief among cattle buyers. On the plus side, cattle numbers remain tight and slaughter cattle prices held steady this week at 164.00. Widespread rains moved across the state over the weekend bringing some much needed rain to most all of Oklahoma. Supply included 75 percent over 600 lbs; 36 percent heifers.
