Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 11/10/2014

Estimated Receipts: 8300     Last Monday: 7942     Year Ago Monday: 9655

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers traded mostly steady to 2.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves mostly 5.00 to 10.00 higher, with instances of 15.00 to 20.00 higher on 400 to 500 lb steers and heifers. Demand remains very good for light cattle suitable for early wheat, as well as heavier weight thin fleshed or long weaned cattle. A cold front is moving into the state tonight, with temperatures forecasted to drop into the 30's and 40's for the rest of the week. According to USDA-NASS, the winter wheat crop is ahead of schedule, with 87 percent of the crop reported as emerged. That is 10 percent ahead of the 5 year average.
