Entries Sought for 2015 Beef Heroes Day Cook-off

The Oklahoma CattleWomen and the Oklahoma Beef Council are seeking entries for the 2015 Beef Heroes Day Cook-off to be held at the Oklahoma City Home and Garden Show, January 18, 2015 from 2 - 5 p.m. The Cook-off will take place at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds on the Lifestyle Stage in Expo Hall. The event will feature teams from fire departments, police departments and military units in a friendly competition for the best beef dish. Sunday of the Home and Garden Show has been proclaimed as Hero Day to recognize and thank our emergency and military personnel for their service.
Beef Cook-Off teams will consist of two people from one department or unit who will cook together. A total of six teams are needed to participate in several heats. Entries will be judged on flavor as well as creativity. Judges will consist of food professionals as well as retired members of the military, police and/or fire sectors. Tickets will be provided to all contestants and judges.
The Oklahoma CattleWomen Inc. will also give beef recipe demonstrations on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 5 - 6 p.m. at the show.
Entry forms are available on the Oklahoma CattleWomen Inc. and OKC Home and Garden Show websites. Entries are due January 1, 2015. The 2015 Beef Heroes Day Cook-off is partially funded by the Oklahoma Beef Check-Off.
