The National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) is pleased that the U.S. House of Representatives Friday took a step to show that there is support for reauthorizing Trade Promotion Authority. Following the vote, NAWG President, Brett Blankenship made the following statement:
"I'm pleased that the House has the votes to approve Trade Promotion Authority. For those voting yes, it was a courageous vote in favor of keeping American agriculture in the lead on international trade. Removing trade barriers and accessing international markets is critical for wheat farmers across the country, and I'm hopeful that House Leadership can find a path forward for concluding action."
NAWG is a federation of 22 state wheat grower associations that works to represent the needs and interests of wheat producers before Congress and federal agencies. Based in Washington, D.C., NAWG is grower-governed and grower-funded, and works in areas as diverse as federal farm policy, trade, environmental regulation, agricultural research and sustainability.
