Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:54:38 CDT
The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (OCA) honored Oklahoma's Attorney General Scott Pruitt as the OCA Distinguished Service Award honoree. The award was presented during the recent 63rd Annual OCA Convention and Trade Show in Midwest City, Okla. Mike Turner of the Oklahoma Attorney General's office accepted the award on behalf of Pruitt, who was out of state.
The Distinguished Service Award is given to individuals who have contributed to the success of the OCA and the Oklahoma beef cattle industry. Past honorees have been leaders in research, technology advancement, leadership and education.
Attorney General Pruitt has led the fight against the special interest animal rights groups and the overreach of the federal government.
"General Pruitt's strong stance against the EPA's assault on private property rights in unparalleled," said Charlie Swanson, OCA President. "On July 8th, Attorney General Pruitt filed suit against the EPA for their redefinition of the Clean Water Act through the proposed Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule."
"General Pruitt also knows the deceitful tactics of special animal rights groups like the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and has fought hard against their false and misleading fundraising schemes," added Swanson.
In March of 2014, General Pruitt's office issued a consumer alert, warning that the HSUS would be under investigation for deceiving Oklahomans into donating to them under false pretenses.
"We are pleased to be able to recognize and more importantly work with an Attorney General Scott Pruitt as he works to protect the citizens of Oklahoma," Swanson said.
