Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 08/24/2015
Estimated Receipts: 8,000 Last Monday: 6,044 Year Ago Monday: 5,025
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers not well tested in early rounds but a sharply lower undertone is noted. Steer and heifer calves opening 15.00-30.00 lower. Early demand moderate to good for feeder cattle, moderate for calves. The Dow took on another day of massive losses at this morning's open and this once again has spilled over into the commodity markets. Cattle futures are sharply lower and this is limiting demand for cattle. The Dow has since recovered some from it's opening but is still down about 1300 points from last Monday. Several calves on offer today with many bull calves included.
