Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 02/24/2016

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves traded 5.00-8.00 higher; instances to as much as 12.00 higher on cattle over 600 lbs suitable for graze-out wheat. Supply mostly attractive quality with a heavy supply in medium to heavy flesh and fill conditions. Most of the state received a much needed rain Tuesday giving a boost to grazing demand. Supply included 86 percent over 600 lbs; 40 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1: Calves: pkg 380 lbs 237.00; 400-500 lbs 203.00-224.00, thin fleshed 231.00-235.00; 500-600 lbs 190.00-203.50, thin fleshed 211.00-213.00; 600-700 lbs 161.50-180.00; pkg 740 lbs 160.75; Yearlings: 600-650 lbs 173.00-187.00; 650-700 lbs 168.50-177.00; 700-750 lbs 161.75-166.50, fleshy and full 157.00-159.50; 750-800 lbs 156.00-161.50; 800-850 lbs 148.00-155.50, fleshy and full 143.50-147.50; 850-900 lbs 144.00-154.00, fleshy and full 140.00-144.25; 900-950 lbs 140.00-144.60, fleshy and full 139.75-140.00; 950-1000 lbs 137.00-140.50; 1000-1075 lbs 133.50-141.00.
